Hege Saebjornsen is the Country Sustainability Manager for IKEA UK & Ireland, responsible for all aspects of the retailer’s sustainability strategy: People and Planet Positive. Hege joined IKEA in May 2015 as Sustainability Expansion Manager, leading the integration of sustainability into the expansion agenda at a time of rapid growth for the business. She was a key member of the team behind the Greenwich sustainable store project and has been instrumental in co-developing IKEA’s Role in Society strategic initiative. Current focus areas include IKEA’s ambition to phase out single-use plastics by 2019, enabling 1 billion people to live better lives by 2030, becoming a leading circular retailer, and fulfilling on our EV100 commitments by 2025. Prior to joining IKEA, Hege led and developed cross-sector collaborative programmes, social enterprises, cultural projects and start-ups with the focus to tackle social, environmental and economic challenges in partnership with the likes of UnLtd, the Cabinet office, Big Lottery Fund and the Refugee Council.
