Henry has worked in sustainability all of his working life, his initial passion for the environment was sparked by his childhood growing up on an organic farm in Cumbria. After studying Environmental Anthropology Henry has worked in sustainability for a range of organisations, including environmental start-ups, charities, Local Government and environmental consultancy. He moved to Nando’s in 2016. In his current role as Head of Sustainability at Nando’s Henry is responsible for setting and leading the sustainability agenda for over 400 restaurants in the UK and Ireland. Projects under this remit include sustainable restaurant design and construction, surplus food redistribution, renewable energy procurement and identifying opportunities for circular business models and material flows. Nando’s also has a large range of community impact projects which help to support 500 local charities across the UK, over 1,800 PERi farmers in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe and a growing presence in the fight against malaria in Mozambique. And it wouldn’t be Nando’s if there wasn’t a bit of fun so Henry also gets involved in brewing honey beer from the restaurant’s residents bees and playing the trumpet in the Nando’s band!
