HSBC Hex Hive & Pitch Competitions

On 5 June 2018, HSBC presented the HSBC Hex Hive at innovfest unbound – an exclusive networking space where participants were given the opportunity to connect with the HSBC’s network of private and institutional investors, large corporates, startups and in-house financial experts. Participants also enjoyed all-day coffee and lunch – courtesy of HSBC.

Have an innovative or ground-breaking product/solution that will propel businesses, economies and/or people to thrive? Have you raised Series A funding or above?  Selected startups pitched their ideas against other businesses’ at HSBC Stephen and Stitt’s Den.

HSBC Stephen and Stitt’s Den

To support and celebrate some of the best innovative ideas, HSBC hosted two rounds of pitching sessions at HSBC Stephen and Stitt’s Den to spotlight 20 Series A and above tech startups. 

Need To Know

Judging Criteria:

With the following criteria in mind, a panel of judges selected by HSBC chose 1 winner from each round on 5 June 2018 (Day 1 of innovfest unbound).

  • Social impact – Does the product/solution clearly demonstrates it's objective that will propel businesses, economies and/or people to thrive (eg. Drive sustainability, promote efficiency, re-define consumer’s experience etc)
  • Innovation – Is the product/solution distinctive and different from current approaches?
  • Growth/Scalability – Does the business model project potential likelihood of growth in the long run?
  • People/Team – What experience does the team have and will contribute to the product/solution’s success?

Format of the Pitch Competition:

Each participant was allowed to present for three minutes, followed by a three-minute Q&A with the judges.

Exciting times ahead and across HSBC group as it continues to bring ground-breaking and disruptive digital banking solutions to our clients. From the intuitive FaceID authentication on its mobile app to the recent milestone of making the world’s first trade transaction utilising blockchain. In this panel, we will hear from our HSBC subject experts who will share and explore HSBC’s on-going and future roadmap with innovation, fintechs and digitalisation as it redefines its banking experience and efficiency.

Outside looking in: Venture Capital and Investment Landscape for Startups
Globally, it has been an extremely positive start to the VC market, with Q1 tallying of over US$49.3 billion invested worldwide. Singapore has seen record investment in Q1 2018. However, we are seeing declining trends in deal volume with median deal sizes increasing across the board. Is this an indication of a maturing Singapore eco-system? In this panel, we will speak with some of the leading VCs and investment firms to share their insights.
