Geert van de Wouw
Since May 2012, Geert is Managing Director and Vice President of Shell Ventures (“SV”), Shell’s corporate venturing organization. SV invests in start-up companies that develop new business models or technologies with a strong strategic fit with Shell. SV invests across the oil & gas, digital, renewable energy and connected mobility space. Since 2012, SV has done more than 30 investments. As such, Geert sits on several boards, including the Supervisory Board of Airborne Oil & Gas, the leading manufacturer of fully bonded thermoplastic composite piping for high-pressure offshore use.
During 2011, Geert worked on the set-up of the Well Manufacturing Joint Venture between China National Petroleum Company (China) and Shell, a strategic collaboration to develop an automated drilling system for shale oil & gas reserves. The JV is now operational and combines drilling automation expertise from Shell with low-cost manufacturing expertise from CNPC.
Before that, Geert held several roles in M&A, New Business Development and Supply Chain Management at both Shell and Fluor Corporation. Fluor Corp is a global engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance company.
In his private time Geert enjoys back-country camping and hiking with his family, particularly in North America and the Middle East. He was born in Den Bosch in the Netherlands and has an MSc degree in Molecular Sciences from the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands. Furthermore, Geert has enjoyed post-graduate business education at IMD in Switzerland. He has three children and is married with Bernadette, who is a start-up entrepreneur in the food industry.
